Tommy Moges, of Everett, was arrested on Monday, April 10 after a search that involved two police departments, according to the Tewksbury Police Department.
Moges broke into a home on River Road in Tewksbury at around 7:25 p.m. on the same day. The homeowner, who was inside the building, confronted Moges who then ran away.
As police were driving to the scene, calls reported that a man in a Black SUV had hit a woman with his car and was now driving erratically near where the break-in occurred.
An investigation determined that after leaving the home he broke into, Moges got into a Honda CRV and then attempted to run over a woman on Mount Joy Drive.
Moges drove through a yard to get to his intended victim, but she evaded his attack and he instead continued driving through the yard and hit another woman on her leg.
Tewksbury police identified the man as Moges and recruited Everett police to locate Moges. He was found at his home and arrested.
“We are thankful that no one was seriously injured during this incident,” said Chief Ryan Columbus. “I am grateful for our officers who responded quickly, conducted a thorough investigation, and promptly made an arrest.”
Moges was charged with the following:
- Breaking and entering for misdemeanor
- Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon
- Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60
- Assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60
- Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
- Leaving the scene of a property damage accident
- Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident
The woman who he hit with his car was treated for injuries at the scene of the incident.
Moges was turned over to Tewksbury police the following morning. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 in Lowell District Court.
